This is the haiku home of Rick Jackofsky, beggar poet and paterfamilias of the The Homegrown String Band. I started seriously writing and submitting haiku to various online and print journals in 2018, but I've been writing songs and poetry pretty much my whole life. For nearly half a century I've made my living through music and photography. Somewhere along the way I discovered that haiku, for me, is something of a missing link between photography and songwriting. Like a good photo, a haiku captures an image of a moment in time, and like a good poem or song, a successful haiku uses words to say something that can’t be said. This site will be a place to archive my published haiku, as well as a place to post new poems and whatnot.
